Our workshop

New for 2025! Booking from April 2025 onwards!

“Toys from the Past” is a living history workshop aimed at Key Stage 1, which explores how toys have changed and developed over time.

During the day, we'll look at some of the earliest toys, from the Ancient Egyptians, through to the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings and later to the Victorians. We'll then focus our learning on toys from the past 100 years so we can explore â€‹how they have changed within living memory.

Using our large collection of both replica and authentic toys, we encourage children to develop their source enquiry skills by handling, and most importantly, playing! We'll compare how toys have changed or stayed the same with the toys they recognise today.

Packed full of exciting artefacts and high-quality resources, our workshop provides an immersive experience, designed to support your class's understanding of continuity and change in toys.
